Penn State- Alabama 2011

September 10th, 2011 is a date that many Alabama and Penn State fans have looked forward to for quite a while. The Alabama-Penn State football game. There is so much more to football to this game. Its a celebration of the history of both schools. The legendary coaches that have coached (or are still coaching) at each school. The traditions. The stadiums. The uniforms. The great plays. When the Bear roamed the sideline, match ups with Penn State were frequent, but until the recent two game series, the two teams have not met since 1989. Last year, Alabama won the match 24-3. Alabama had home advantage, a tested QB, reigning Heisman Winner at running back, and a pretty dominate defense. This year we go to State College in the midst of a QB battle with two QBs that do not have that much game experience, at least our defense is just as dominate. Let's see how this turns out

Alabama Football 2011

So once again it is September in the south and that could only mean one thing: football. This is Alabama's football schedule for the 2011 season. This is actually a wall paper that I used on my computer.

Some of the best games this season will be the home match ups against LSU and UTennessee. The games at Mississippi State and Auburn will be games to keep an eye out on.

(Not So) Fresh Perspective

Yes, I know Perspective is misspelled. It was changed back in the day, but apparently not saved.

These two images were found on the harddrive of my old Dell. I thought I had lost them forever but they reappeared here on my new MacBook Pro.

Back my freshman year of college, two fellow freshman guys created an internet talk/ commentary show titled 'The Fresh Perspective'. Little did I know that over the next few years I would grow close to both guys.  At the time Matt wanted to do some major marketing for the show cause he wanted it to be competition for the Crimson White ( never happened). So these were stickers that he wanted to have made.

In its day, Fresh Perspective had great memorable episodes like ," Roll Tide", " Pluto", and "Blinds"

I got a kick out of seeing these old pics of two of my best friends. HA

S.Mateo 28:19

Go and make disciples of all nations- Matthew 28:19

Over Spring Break my roommate, Matt went to Seville, Spain as a missions trip. He had been learning spanish for quite awhile now and this was a great opportunity for him to go to a native speaking country to work on his spanish as well as to shine a light in one of the darker countries in Europe. If you know Matt, you know that he loves taking photo. This is a picture that he took on the street of Seville. The section that I used is actually just a really small portion of that photo.

This image is meant to be a lock screen background for a iPhone/iPod Touch.

The Montgomerys

A year ago tomorrow I was in N. Alabama watching two close friends tie the knot. I have known Patrick for several years now. He roomed with Matt in Lakeside, so I got to spend alot of time around him and getting to know him. Micca was his high school sweet heart and they somehow managed to survive 4 years of a long distance relationship. They have been an awesome example of what a Godly dating relationship should look like. Now they live in the greatest state in the Union, Texas!

This is a picture I made one day just trying some new things out that I had learned in photoshop. Its a combo of one of their engagement pictures with one of their wedding photos.

The Spin

This is another entry from right after the National Championship. This one honors Defensive MVP Marcell Dareus. Besides showing the world what a pansy Colt McCoy really was, Dareus made an awesome play near the very end of the first half. Texas QB Garrett Gilbert was obviously flustered.( I would be too if my first real playing time came in the National Championship Game against one of the biggest defenses in the nation, but give him props, he did AMAZING in the second half) he threw a very poorly judged pass, that never really got anywhere, but Dareus's hands. Dareus then clothelines Gilbert, spins him off, and is escorted into the endzone for 6.

This is my first attempt at a time lapse photoshop, showing the moment from when Dareus got the ball to the time that he was home free headed for the endzone. The elephant was one again taken from the pre-game video with the crystal ball placed in the elephant's eye.

The Dragon

This is one of the very very first graphics that I created. This was made in the fall of 2006 when I first started college. It initially served as a my computer wallpaper for awhile, and it has always been one of my favorite graphics that I have created.

Dragons are something that I have always loved. The dragon is a symbol that is prevalent in Chinese folklore, and to this day the dragon is most associated with China. In addition to the rich cultural roots, according to the Chinese zodiac, I was born in the year of the dragon. So this is a pretty sweet dragon, and i thought that it would be cool to put my name over it.

Perche

This was actually a Photoshop challenge that I found on facebook. Here is how this Album Cover came to be:

1 - Go to Wikipedia.org and click "Random Article". The first random Wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.

2 - Go to quotationspage.com and click "Random Quotes". The last four or five words of the very last quote of the page is the title of your first album.

3 - Go to Flickr.com and click on “explore" - "last seven days interesting”. Third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.

4 - Use photoshop or similar (picnik.com is a free online photo editor) to put it all together.

5 - Post the link to your photo here.

Intercede- The Prayer Tracking App

This one was created in August of 2010. My best friend is a iPhone programmer and his first app is Intercede. Intercede is an iPhone/ iPod application that tracks prayer request. The idea for this app came from the face that during everyday conversations with people, you may be asked to pray for something or someone. In most situations, you don't have something to write down the request on, and its easy to forget a prayer request in the course of the rest of your day. Intercede allows you to have your prayer list stored on a device that you have in your pocket at pretty much all times.

I was asked to create some sort of flier that would promote Intercede. Here I tried to create a scrap sheet of paper that someone would have in their purse or pocket that they used to scribble down requests. As you can see, it is wrinkled, stained, and dirty. This is one of the main reasons that Intercede is a great idea for your prayer life. It keeps your prayer list clean, organized, and easily updated. Also if you read the names on the list, you may recognize some of them from the TV and movie worlds with their fictional prayer requests.

If you want to download Intercede for FREE, click here

Be Still and Know

So maybe the posts may come more than once a week. I guess I will upload somethings as soon as get done making them. So here is one that is hot off of the press

This is actually made for the iPhone/iPod touch (iPad version coming soon). This picture was taken from my porch on night last fall. The sunset was just simply amazing and it was one of those moments to just stop there and think about how great our God. He created all of this for us to enjoy, and many times in our lives we just pass it up as just another sunset. So I made this wallpaper just to remind myself that God made that sunset for us to enjoy and to bring glory to Himself.

Feel free to take this and use it on your device if you so choose.

We Live It

I haven't really done any blog like thing since I was in high school, so this is once again really new to me again. But lately, I have been doing alot of photoshop stuff, and this is going to be a way to keep track of my progress.I have been doing Photoshop designing since I was in high school. It started out with a simple multimedia class that I took as an elective, but I really enjoyed working with Photoshop cause I was somewhat decent at it, and it came naturally to me. Ever since I came to college, it has been a great way for me to escape from my major which is really structured, math heavy, and objective. Photoshop has given me the opportunity to venture out of that world into something that is much more creative and less structured.  I will try to post something new (or old, just not posted) every week.

Let's start off with an easy one. I call this one 'We Live It' This is actually a wall paper I made for my computer in January of 2010 after Alabama won its 13th National Championship.Since the 2009 season, the Alabama football slogan has been 'At some places they play football, at Alabama, We live it.' This may be the understatement of the century, cause sometimes its hard to believe that football is just a game here. The elephants are the official mascot of Alabama Athletics, with these painted elephants coming from an video that was shown before every 2009 home football game. The 2009 season was an awesome season with the Crimson Tide making it to the National Championship Game against the Texas Longhorns. After scoring a touchdown in the first half of the game, Heisman Trophy Winner Mark Ingram flashed his gloves to the television cameras in a pose that has been synonymous with the game ever since.

This is pretty much what I think a post will consist of from me. Its going to be relatively simple blog, no real deep thoughts or life altering posts (that's just not my style). Honestly I don't know how many people are actually going to ever see this blog, actually I don't really care. This is just a place for me to post up some of my work (if you consider it that) so that I can kinda see how I am improving (or not improving) as a graphic artist.....who is majoring in something completely different...
